Background
Ryan Estep is currently working on a Master of Engineering thesis project at the 91制片厂 in conjunction with Crown Equipment Limited New Zealand. He graduated from The University of Toledo in 2013 with a Bachelors of Computer Science and Engineering.
Ryan is addressing the problem of pedestrian RF localisation techniques in the high clutter environment of a typical warehouse. His research will include a survey of existing state-of-the-art localisation technologies; classifying their performance and accuracy in a warehouse environment. As part of the project he will design and build a prototype pedestrian localisation system, attempting to achieve high accuracy while targeting a realistic production cost.
Ryan鈥檚 interest in RF began during his final year capstone project, where he worked in a team to design and program a ZigBee mesh networked sensor array for his final year capstone project. Over his year of working at Crown, he has seen the need for a robust and reliable pedestrian localisation system where heavy machinery works alongside pedestrians.
Ryan鈥檚 supervisors are Dr. Graeme Woodward and Dr. Richard Green.
